Biography
Dr. Xinfeng (Kevin) Quan was born and grew up in Xianyang, Shaanxi. He obtained his B. Sc. from Fudan University in 2008 and Ph.D. From University of Pittsburgh in 2013. He joined Sichuan University - Pittsburgh Institute (SCUPI) in 2015 as Assistant Professor and was promoted to Associate Professor in 2021. In July 2022 he joined School of Science, Westlake University as Lecturer.
Dr. Xinfeng Quan taught Chemistry to Engineers for six years and Material Structure and Property for one semester at SCUPI. He also designed and taught English for Cross-Cultural Communication (independent course) and Critical Thinking for Communication (course section). He has been dedicated in training student’ higher-order thinking skills and enhancing teaching and learning efficacy via active learning and inductive teaching techniques. He won the first prize in the “Inquisitive Small Class” Teaching Competition (2019) and First-class Teaching Outcome Award (2021) of Sichuan University. He has been invited to give thirty talks/training sessions/workshops nationwide on scholarship of teaching, higher-order thinking skills, and teaching efficacy. He advocates in elevating scholarship of teaching and teaching efficacy in Chinese Universities.
